GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION
Instruct courses in the Respiratory Care Technology program. Responsible for developing and updating curriculum, textbook, equipment selection, and instructional materials. Work rules, code of conduct, and other policies are part of the essential functions of the job. Provide instruction that will achieve the specific goals and objectives stated in the syllabi of the assigned courses, and create a wholesome, meaningful learning environment in the classroom and/or the laboratory setting. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to: student advising, maintaining office hours, participating in college committees, participating in mentor-mentee program, promoting and supporting extra-curricular activities, participating in professional development, and working across departments to develop student communication, computation, and problem-solving skills. Faculty are expected to accept courses as assigned which could include non-traditional venues, such as evening, weekend, dual credit, and/or online courses, and must be able to travel to clinical facilities and be flexible to teach as needed. This position reports to the Program Director for Respiratory Care Technology.
NOTE: This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Physical effort-restricted: Sustained posture or intense attentiveness for prolonged periods. Light lifting (less than 30 lbs.), some walking, pushing, and pulling on a regular basis. Work environment-Minimal hazard/exposure: Standard office setting. At least minimal environmental controls to assure health and comfort.
BENEFITS:
Part-Time Retirement. Participation in Medicare Part A, but not Social Security (FICA).
QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Associate's Degree in Respiratory Care Technology from an accredited college or university
Experience: Two years of clinical working experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT). Currently working as a bedside clinician (RRT).
Special Requirement: Active member of the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC). Active with the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Respiratory Care Technology, Education, or a related field from an accredited college or university
