The Custodial Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist is responsible for evaluating, monitoring, and improving the cleanliness, safety, and operational standards across all school facilities. This role involves conducting systematic inspections of classrooms, restrooms, cafeterias, gymnasiums, and common areas to ensure cleaning standards. The QA Specialist acts as an objective evaluator, identifying training needs, verifying supply efficiencies, and ensuring an optimal cleaning standard.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Routine Facility Audits:
• • Conduct comprehensive, unannounced, and scheduled cleanliness inspections across all assigned school buildings.
  • Utilize auditing or standardized scorecards to rate cleanliness, sanitation, and floor care quality.
• Compliance & Safety Monitoring:
• • Verify that all campus janitorial closets comply with OSHA standards and company safety protocols.
  • Inspect chemical storage closets to ensure proper labeling, organization, availability of Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and safe mixing practices.
  • Identify and report physical building hazards (e.g., broken handrails, slips/trips hazards, blocked fire exits) to the maintenance department immediately.
• Data Analysis & Reporting:
• • Generate and distribute detailed inspection reports to custodial supervisors and Project Manager.
  • Track cleanliness trends, identify recurring failures at specific sites, and provide actionable recommendations for corrective adjustments.
• Training & Performance Support:
• • Partner with Custodial Supervisors to identify knowledge gaps in frontline staff regarding cleaning techniques, equipment usage, or safety.
  • Provide feedback and assist in delivering targeted, hands-on retraining sessions to improve building scores.
• Equipment & Supply Evaluation:
• • Assess the condition and performance of custodial equipment (e.g., auto-scrubbers, vacuums, carpet extractors) during site visits to ensure proper maintenance.
  • Monitor supply inventories during audits to ensure teams have the necessary tools to perform their duties effectively without waste.

Position Requirements

• • A minimum of 3–5 years of experience in commercial or institutional custodial operations, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory, lead, or inspection role.
  • Basic skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
• Physical Requirements:
• • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods (up to 70–80% of the workday) while moving through large school campuses.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and occasionally lift up to 30 lbs.
• Logistics & Background Clearance:
• • Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation to travel independently between school campuses daily.
  • Must pass a mandatory criminal background check, fingerprinting, and drug screening required for personnel working in school environments.

• Problem-Solving & Critical Thinking: Ability to look beyond a dirty room to identify why it was missed (e.g., scheduling issues, broken equipment, or lack of training) and suggest structural solutions.
