What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Control Specialist position at McLaughlin Body Company?
Under the direction of Materials Manager, the Production Control Specialist plans, organizes, sets
direction for developing and implementing production scheduling to support various products and
service parts into and out of all aspects of the production operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This list of duties and responsibilities
is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as
management may deem necessary from time to time.
Compile and prepare information related to production sequences and schedules, such as
production progress, materials inventories, and materials used.
Review inventory and distributing materials according to production schedules
Coordinate and expedite the flow of materials within or between departments according
to production schedule.
Examine documents, materials, and products, and monitor work processes, in order to
assess completeness, accuracy, and conformance to standards and specifications.
Confers with department supervisors to determine progress of production lines and
shipment schedules, compiles reports on progress of work, inventory levels, and
production problems.
Verifies production output against what was scheduled and resolves problems for out of
tolerance discrepancies.
Requisition and maintain inventories of materials and supplies necessary to meet
production demands.
Communicates the production planning status daily to Materials Manager, production
personnel, and department supervision.
Revise production schedules when required due to labor or material shortages, machine
malfunction, or other interruptions, collaborating with management, production, and
engineering.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Required education - minimum high school
diploma. Two to five years of experience or related experience. Working knowledge of MRP
systems.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short
correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively
present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, vendors, and other
employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of
measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio,
and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently
required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls; reach
above shoulders; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance;
stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and
occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job
include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the
ability to adjust focus.
