Position Summary:
Provides technical support to the Registered Nurse, other care providers, and Physician during endoscopic or pulmonary procedures. Assists with monitoring the patient and alerts the RN to any change in status. Cleans and maintains technical equipment/accessories used in endoscopic procedures.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Documents procedure times and elements of procedure, obtains patients vital signs
Sets up endoscopy procedure rooms in preparation for cases with appropriate endoscope and supplies
Assists with endoscopy procedures
Cleans procedure room following endoscopy procedures
Cleans and disinfects endoscopes and accessories
Assists with patient and equipment transport
Monitors disinfectant concentration and efficacy, keeps log of temperature and testing results
Prepares and labels specimens
Participates inMedicalCenterand/or departmental quality assessments and continuous quality improvement opportunities, goal setting, collection and evaluation of data, implementation of action plans, or related applications
Complies with safety regulations and practices for self, team members and patients
Ability to cross train in Sterile Processing
Performs other duties as required or requested
Qualifications:
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum one-year experience as endoscopy technician
Ability to take call
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and policy and procedures manuals
Knowledge of and trained in age-specific categories being served: infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric
Knowledge of occupational health and safety, ergonomics, workers compensation, and OSHA regulations
Demonstrated ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Demonstrated ability to interact with people at various levels in a courteous, tactful and poised manner
