Position: Legal Assistant/Paralegal

Job Description: The Legal Assistant/Paralegal is responsible for providing administrative support to an attorney on a day-to-day basis, as well as working closely with clients and other team members to ensure effective and timely attention to important legal matters. It is preferred that the Legal Secretary/Paralegal have legal experience working with business and tax planning, business transactions, and estate planning. We are looking for someone who is proactive, ready to learn, and wanting to enhance their skillset.
Essential Duties:
· Prepare and format correspondence, contracts, other documents and/or memoranda in draft and in final form from dictation, handwritten material, and typed copy;
· Effective communication with all clients and law firm team members in a timely manner;
· Assist attorney in preparation/updating/revising wills, trusts, and other estate planning documents;
· Assist with court filings, notices, pleadings and/or other documents for attorneys as requested, and including electronic filing;
· Assist with recording of deeds, including electronic recording;
· Provide administrative support to ensure a smooth daily workflow in order to meet project deadlines. This includes word processing, photocopying and scanning, processing of mail and performance of other clerical duties, scheduling;
· Create, edit, and proofread complex and practice-specific legal documents, forms, and correspondence to ensure accuracy and completeness; and
· Ability to learn new computer programs and software applications
Specific Skills/Knowledge:
· Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines; and in a fast-paced environment;
· Exceptional writing and proof reading abilities;
· Effective communication skills;
· Mastery of the English language and grammar to allow for advanced writing and editing of legal documents;
· Meticulous attention to detail;
· Advanced knowledge of MS Word, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat;
· Knowledge of MS Excel and MS Power Point;
Education and/or Experience:
- High School Diploma (required);
- Associate’s and/or Bachelor’s Degree (preferred);
- 5 years’ experience in a law firm or legal department (preferred); and
- Notary Public (preferred)
Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
