Duties
- Assist with the installation of fire sprinkler systems according to blueprints, schematics, and industry codes such as ASME standards
- Use hand tools, power tools, pipe threading equipment, and welding techniques including MIG, FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), TIG welding, and soldering to assemble piping and sprinkler components
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to ensure accurate system layout and installation
- Measure, cut, bend, and thread pipes using calipers, pipe benders, and other mechanical tools while adhering to safety protocols
- Support the rigging and lifting of heavy materials on construction sites or manufacturing facilities using proper rigging techniques
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following OSHA regulations and company safety policies
- Participate in ongoing training on HVAC systems, plumbing principles, pipeline installation, and maintenance procedures
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or coursework in construction trades is a plus
- Basic knowledge of construction site safety practices and use of hand tools and power tools
- Mechanical aptitude with an interest in learning welding such as soldering
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings accurately, or willingness to learn.
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to pipe fitting and system layout
- Willingness to work outdoors on construction sites or manufacturing facilities in various weather conditions
- Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
