Who You'll Work With
You will be based in our Boston or Dallas office and will be part of our Private Equity & Principal Investors (PEPI) Capabilities & Insights Team. You willbe part of a team that drives the research and knowledge consulting arm focusing on PEPI topics. Our team of analysts support consultants and our clients providing comprehensive perspectives on topics related to the private marketsindustry.
You will be part of McKinsey's client capabilities network which includes more than 3,500 diverse professionals globally delivering distinctive client impact and fueled by a culture of innovation. You will be working with a group of McKinsey partners and consultants that are actively working to solve strategic topics in the private markets industry.
This is a unique opportunity to work in a fast-growing, dynamic industry with broad exposure to dynamic investor markets and to develop a thorough understanding of how investors assess markets and targets together with colleagues and PEPI practitioners worldwide.
What You'll Do
You will lead an agile team of 10-15 analysts globally focused on private equity and institutional investor markets working closely with the Manager of Client Capabilities and practice leadership on strategic priorities. You will have full responsibility of the daily functioning of the team (e.g., workflow management, coaching, staffing, development etc.) and will be the natural go-to person for leadership, being the decision maker for daily activities.
You will be working in a fluid and fast-moving environment where priorities are constantly evolving and will need to identify opportunities to broaden client & team impact by creatively solving problems without always waiting for direction (e.g. knowledge development deployment and study staffing).
Additionally, you'll be a pivotal contributor to people development through involvement in evaluations, mentorship and crafting opportunities for colleagues to grow by following a strengths based approach. You'll be involved in workflow and team management to create efficient operational process management and innovations, as you will be responsible for the utilization targets of the team.
Leading your team of analysts, you will develop into a reliable and proactive leader, with the ability to motivate people to act, often through actions and establish trust-based relationships. This will allow you to help define internal knowledge strategy and contribute to internal practice events, drive and execute team or practice specific strategic initiatives, as well as serve as a thought partner to consultants and clients by providing strategic guidance.
Qualifications
  • Graduate degree; post-graduate or advanced degree in business, economics or MBA is a plus
  • 6 years of relevant experience
  • Strong interest in the private market space, especially in terms of economic andbusiness implications
  • Experience in or knowledge of the PEPI sector is a plus
  • Proven leadership experience in managing teams or delivering global/regional assignments
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and experience working in multi-cultural environments
  • Energetic, cooperative and pleasant personality with strong interpersonal skills
  • Able to work with and effectively coach a diverse group of team members
  • Demonstrated experience in building sustainable tools, solutions or assets
  • Strong execution drive and high level of ownership
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and quantitative skills, with an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication

A reasonable estimate of the range for new joiners for this role in the United States is $131,100 - $135,000. Actual salaries may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors, including, but not limited to an individual's assigned office location, experience and expertise. Certain roles are also eligible for bonuses, subject to McKinseyis discretion and based on factors such as individual and/or organizational performance.
