Front End Assistant Manager

Position Overview

McKinnon’s Market & Super Butcher Shop is seeking a dependable, customer-focused Front End Assistant Manager to help lead our Front End team and ensure customers receive friendly, efficient service every time they shop with us.

This position is ideal for someone with previous cashier, customer service, or retail leadership experience who enjoys working with people and helping a busy department run smoothly. The Front End Assistant Manager will support the Front End Manager, supervise employees, resolve customer concerns, and assist with the daily operation of the department.

We are open to hiring qualified candidates for either part-time or full-time positions. Benefits are available to eligible full-time employees.

Responsibilities

• Help supervise and support cashiers, baggers, and other Front End team members
• Provide friendly, professional service to customers
• Assist with scheduling, shift coverage, breaks, and daily employee assignments
• Train and coach new and existing Front End employees
• Monitor checkout lines and open additional registers when needed
• Ensure cash registers are operated accurately and efficiently
• Assist with register counts, cash handling, deposits, refunds, and other Front End transactions
• Respond to customer questions and resolve concerns professionally
• Verify prices, promotions, coupons, and rewards discounts according to store policies
• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming checkout area
• Communicate equipment, staffing, pricing, or operational concerns to management
• Help ensure employees follow company policies and procedures
• Assist the Front End Manager and Store Manager with administrative and operational tasks as needed

Qualifications

• Previous retail, grocery, cashier, or customer service experience
• Supervisory or leadership experience is strongly preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Dependable, organized, and able to make sound decisions
• Comfortable supervising employees and providing constructive feedback
• Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment
• Strong attention to detail and cash-handling accuracy
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond quickly during busy periods
• Availability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings, weekends, and holidays
