Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and provide prompt, friendly service with a smile
- Assist customers with deli selections and answer product questions
- Slice, weigh, package, label and price deli products accurately
- Stock, organize and rotate merchandise to maintain freshness and quality
- Keep displays attractive, full and properly arranged
- Maintain back stock in a clean and orderly manner
- Safely operate knives, slicers and other deli equipment
- Follow all food-safety, sanitation and workplace-safety procedures
- Keep the department and surrounding work areas clean, well maintained and organized
- Help create a safe, clean and welcoming shopping environment
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Friendly, positive and customer-focused attitude
- Basic knowledge of deli products is preferred, but not required
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with customers and coworkers
- Ability to safely use knives, slicers and other cutting equipment after training
- Dependable, attentive and able to work well as part of a team
- Ability to follow instructions and maintain high standards for cleanliness and food safety
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position
- Stand and walk for extended periods, including shifts of up to 8–10 hours
- Frequently bend, reach, stoop and climb
- Lift and move heavy products and supplies without assistance
- Perform repetitive hand and arm movements with good manual dexterity
- Work in areas with varying temperatures, including refrigerated coolers
- Safely use box cutters, knives and other department equipment
