Job Description
PRIMARY PURPOSE
Ensure a high degree of safety and security for McKinney ISD personnel, students, visitors, and property.
Current open shifts are 12am to 8am and 4pm to 12 am. On call positions available.
Essential Functions
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Provides a warm, friendly greeting to all visitors
Assist with basic questions about the location of classrooms/rooms in the building
Patrol school grounds to detect unauthorized persons or vehicles
Monitor people into buildings
Monitor all fire alarm activity and report any activity, which could result in danger to students, staff, and buildings
Maintain security of all exterior doors
Open and close buildings for any scheduled after hours activities
Stop and/or report any activity that is a security risk
Lock interior classroom doors
Ability to interact with students
Perform other duties the principal may assign
Customer Care Skills
Provide professional communication with students, parents, community members, staff, and other professionals at all times
Use proper phone etiquette at all times, speaking slowly and clearly. Take reliable messages, and route to appropriate staff
Ensure superior customer care skills are used via eye contact, facial expressions, voice inflections, body language, and an attitude of "going the extra mile" for others
Ensure all requests for information are dealt within an appropriate timeframe
Create and maintain a welcoming, service-oriented environment toward all internal and external customers

WORKING CONDITIONS
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors
Tools/Equipment Used: District vehicles, communications equipment, trash collection materials, electric cart; and standard office equipment including computer and peripherals
Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing; frequent stooping and bending; continuous walking
Motion: Strenuous walking and climbing stairs; occasional keyboarding and use of mouse, moderate driving
Lifting: Moderate lifting and carrying (up to 60 pounds)
Environment: Work inside and outside (moderate exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather); moderate exposure to noise and vehicle exhaust; exposure to dust, slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent district-wide travel.
Communications: Will communicate with supervisors and building administrator only, as confidentiality is critical. Visiting with school personnel or students on matters not pertaining to work is prohibited.
Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; work alone
