Job Summary
The Expanded Learning Program Education Specialist shall assume responsibility for supporting the implementation of students’ educational plans, conducting student assessments, designing instructional and behavioral plans, and reviewing students’ supports for successful program participation. The ELP Educational Specialist shall report directly to the designated program administrator and will provide individual and small group support for students and ELP leaders as appropriate according to Federal, Master Plan and school-level requirements for individuals with exceptional needs.
Requirements / Qualifications
The ELP Educational Specialist should possess a Mild/Moderate or Moderate/Severe Special Education credential, eligibility for an NCLB Certificate of Compliance, and authorization to instruct English Learner (EL) students. Candidates may also qualify through a combination of relevant education, certifications, and experience in special education, behavioral support, or child development. Valued preparation includes certifications such as Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), Early Intervention, and Special Education Advocacy or Law. Relevant academic backgrounds may include degrees in special education, psychology, child development, or speech-language pathology. Experience supporting students with moderate to severe disabilities, implementing IEPs and 504 plans, and working in roles such as behavior specialist, inclusion facilitator, or mobility specialist is highly desirable.
