Depot Scale Operator

JOB SUMMARY:

Operates scales to weigh vehicles and materials, recording transaction data and collecting fees. Interaction with customers and vendors ensuring accurate measurements and maintain records and verifying loads for compliance and proper handling.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:     

Include, but are not limited to, the following.  

• Follow all MPPC Safety policies and procedures
• Operating Scales to accurately weigh vehicles materials or loads.
• Preparing receipts, weigh tickets and maintaining files of all transaction documents.
•  Record weights, materials, dates times and customer information into data entry system.
• Assisting customers, answering questions and explaining the weighing process and MPPC procedures.
• Calculating and processing payments and balancing daily transactions.
• Ensure loads are in compliance with regulations, and MPPC processes and procedures
• Assist with month-end closing process.
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATION/SKILLS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:     

High School diploma or equivalent 

1-2 years’ experience in scale operation, cash handling, customer facing role 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Possess excellent written and oral communication skills

Bilingual/ Spanish highly desirable

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:   

Ability to operate a motor vehicle and possess a valid state drivers’ license.  

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Ability to operate “windows-based” word-processing programs;

Word , Excel  intermediate proficiency

Experience with SAP is highly desirable

Excellent Customer Service Skills

Ability to work in a fast paced environment 

Ability to work independently and in a team based environment

Ability to meet critical deadlines

Must be able to work extended work hours or weekends when required.

May be exposed to Hot/Cold temperatures when walking from scale house to office complex or in storage yard/collection site

May encounter dust due to motor vehicle traffic

Sitting for long periods of time, walking, climbing stairs, stooping, bending, reaching, grasping.

Must have the ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment as required
