Position Overview
McKenzie SD 68 is hiring Substitute Custodians to support the maintenance and cleanliness of district facilities. This is an on-call position starting immediately.
Key Duties

Maintain facilities security and safety while on campus

Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, wax, and polish floors and surfaces
-
Collect and empty waste and recycling containers
-
Clean windows, mirrors, blinds, light fixtures, walls, and drinking fountains
-
Disinfect restrooms and replenish supplies
-
Sweep walkways and perform routine groundskeeping
-
Move, set up, and maintain furniture, equipment, and supplies
-
Ensure proper lighting, heating, and ventilation throughout the facility
-
Perform minor building and equipment repairs (plumbing, HVAC, electrical, etc.)
-
Collaborate with staff and support students and patrons as needed
-
Maintain confidentiality when working with staff, students, parents, and community members
-
Perform other duties as assigned by the Plant Coordinator or Administration
Qualifications
-
High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
-
Previous custodial experience preferred
-
Knowledge of cleaning methods and safe use of cleaning equipment and materials
-
Ability to perform moderately heavy lifting (50–75 lbs) and physically demanding tasks
-
Basic repair skills for facilities and equipment
-
Ability to follow instructions, routines, and directives
-
Strong interpersonal skills; able to maintain positive relationships with students, staff, and the public

Flexible and reliable; able to work varying hours as needed
-
Criminal background check and fingerprinting required

Hours: On call, as needed

Wage: $20.08 – $24.99 per hour (based on experience)
