McKenzie School District is seeking a Middle School Football Coach for the 2026-27 school year.
Primary Responsibilities
- Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, travel, and team activities
- Ride the team bus to and from athletic events
- Plan and organize practices to support individual and team development
- Teach Football skills, rules, techniques, and sportsmanship
- Communicate effectively with students, families, staff, and administration
- Maintain appropriate student behavior and ensure athlete safety
- Coordinate scheduling, facilities, equipment, transportation, and eligibility requirements with the Athletic Director
- Promote positive team culture and serve as a positive role model for student-athletes
- Monitor athlete academic eligibility and participation requirements
- Assist with equipment inventory, care, and program organization
- Participate in program events such as parent nights, awards events, and pep assemblies
- Follow all district, league, OSAA, and state athletic regulations and procedures
Assistant coaches may be hired based on participation numbers.
Qualifications
- Previous football coaching experience preferred
- High school playing experience required; college experience preferred
- Knowledge of football rules, strategies, and coaching techniques
- Ability to build positive working relationships with students, families, staff, and administration
- Must possess or be willing to obtain a Type 20 certification in order to drive district vehicles
- Must complete all required NFHS and sport-specific trainings prior to the season
- CPR/First Aid certification required
- Fingerprinting and criminal background check required
- Must comply with Oregon licensure requirements and district policies
Compensation
Seasonal stipend of $1,545 - $1,947, depending on experience
Start Date
September 2026 with preseason preperation as needed prior to the start of the season
