Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervises the day-to-day activities of our pharmacy tech.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and verify physicians’ medication orders for accuracy, appropriateness, and potential drug interactions.
- Prepare and dispense medications for inpatient and outpatient use according to hospital protocols.
- Monitor patient responses to prescribed medications and suggest adjustments as necessary.
- Advise medical staff on the selection, dosage, interactions, and side effects of medications.
- Participate in patient rounds and provide pharmaceutical input to care plans.
- Ensure medications are stored securely and comply with legal and safety standards.
- Maintain accurate records of medications dispensed and inventory levels.
- Educate patients and healthcare staff on drug therapies and safe medication practices.
- Stay current with hospital formulary updates and evidence-based treatment guidelines.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree.
- Valid pharmacist license in the state.
- Strong clinical knowledge of pharmacology and therapeutics.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Experience using Epic.
- Familiarity with sterile compounding and IV admixture.
- Ability to manage high workloads and prioritize patient safety.
