The Mechanic/ Tire Technician is responsible for mounting, dismounting, balancing, rotation, and repairing all McKenzie County vehicles and equipment. This position is located in Watford City, ND and scheduled for Monday – Friday

Main Plan - County contributes 9.26%, Employee contribute 1%-3% - County will match

Essential Job Functions
- Mount, dismount, balance, and repair tires on vehicles and equipment. Inspect the tires for damage and wear, perform tire rotations
- Perform preventative maintenance services, inspections, diagnosis and repair of County vehicles and equipment
- Correct vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts or systems such as power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering and hydraulics
- Provide assistance, guidance, and direction to other McKenzie County personnel regarding vehicle and equipment maintenance
- Troubleshoot vehicle and equipment breakdowns and failures
- Perform preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment
- Conduct safety checks on vehicles and equipment
- Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with the County standards
- Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures
- Routinely travel to various locations across McKenzie County
- Other duties as assigned for business needs
- High School Diploma or GED
- One (1) years’ experience as a Tire Tech, Mechanic, Hydraulics
- Valid Class A driver’s license preferred
- Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification for Diesel Engines and/or Heavy Equipment preferred
- Strong diagnostic skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be able to report to Watford City, ND daily at required schedule time
- Physical requirements and working conditions:
- Able to handle exposure to noise and extreme weather conditions
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, kneel, stoop, sit, walk extensively
