The Landfill Scale Attendant is responsible for efficiently managing inbound and outbound traffic at the landfill scale house. This position ensures customers are processed quickly and accurately while maintaining proper documentation and collecting payments. The Scale Attendant coordinates with the Solid Waste Director and Pit Boss regarding load placement when questions arise and helps ensure inbound revenue is accurately recorded and processed. This position also performs daily reporting, customer service, and maintains cleanliness of the scale house and surrounding area. This position reports to the Solid Waste Director and is located in Arnegard, ND. Schedule and salary commensurate with experience.

Essential Job Functions
- Efficiently process inbound and outbound landfill customers using the scale system
- Accurately record weights, materials, and other required information for loads entering and leaving the landfill
- Collect and process payments including cash, checks, and credit cards
- Ensure accurate ticketing and maintain daily scale reports and documentation
- Screen inbound loads for hazardous or prohibited waste and notify leadership when questions arise
- Coordinate with the Solid Waste Director and Pit Boss to direct customers to the correct disposal areas
- Answer phone calls and assist customers with landfill procedures and questions
- Maintain daily financial reconciliation and proper handling of collected funds
- Maintain organization and cleanliness of the scale house and surrounding work area
- Assist with maintaining daily operational reports and other documentation as required
- Support overall landfill operations and customer traffic flow
- May occasionally assist with operating equipment or supporting site operations if time allows and operational needs require
- Other duties as assigned for business needs
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Basic computer and data entry skills
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to handle cash and maintain accurate financial records
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Must be able to report to Arnegard, ND daily at required schedule time
- Ability to work in an environment with exposure to noise, dust, and varying weather conditions
- Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods
- Must be able to lift up to 30–50 pounds occasionally
- Must be able to bend, kneel, and perform general office and operational tasks as required
- Previous experience operating a landfill scale system
- Experience handling cash and reconciling daily reports
- Experience in waste management or public service operations
