Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for an Assistant Preconstruction Manager/Estimator based in Morrisville, NC. The role involves preparing accurate construction estimates, managing costs, assisting with design evaluations, and participating in proposal writing. The Assistant Preconstruction Manager/Estimator will collaborate closely with all parties to ensure adherence to budgets, and contribute to the development of comprehensive proposals while supporting the preconstruction process.
Key Responsibilities
- help with all aspects of preconstruction including working on proposals, bids, budgets, permitting, but-out, permitting and preliminary scheduling
- communicate with owners, architects, engineers as needed to get clarifications on scope of work needed for accurate pricing
- attend GC Prebid site visits, help coordinate and attend subcontractor site visits to evaluate existing conditions as needed for most competitive and accurate pricing
- Communicate, request and obtain pricing from subcontractors, suppliers and other vendors. Evaluate their pricing and proposals for accurate scope of work, completeness and their competitiveness.
- Review project plans, drawings specifications, request for pricing to understand scope of work to prepare accurate proposals, bids and cost estimates
- prepare accurate quantity take-offs for all aspects of construction as needed to accurately review and prepare bids and budgets
- Review subcontractor and supplier bids for accuracy of scope of work and quantity take-offs
- Research and obtain pricing for specialty materials and subcontractors
- maintain organized and accurate project files.
- assist in conceptual budgeting from preliminary pricing plans, scopes of work
- prepare all documentation, permit applications as needed for permitting of projects
Qualifications
- Knowledge in Construction Estimating and Cost Management
- Experience in Proposal Writing
- Ability to analyze construction plans and specifications
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Knowledge of construction management software (Procore)
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred
- Experience in the commercial construction industry is a plus
