Position Overview:
As a Seafood Clerk, you’ll assist in preparing, stocking, and presenting seafood products while delivering exceptional customer service. You’ll ensure freshness, cleanliness, and compliance with food safety standards in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Stock, rotate, and display fresh and frozen seafood products
- Monitor product freshness and ensure proper storage and temperature control
- Clean and sanitize seafood cases, equipment, and prep areas regularly
- Package, weigh, and label seafood items accurately
- Assist customers with seafood selection, cooking tips, and special requests
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and handling procedures
- Unload and organize seafood deliveries
- Support department manager and coworkers as needed
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Friendly and professional with strong customer service skills
- Comfortable handling raw seafood and working in wet, cold environments
- Willing to obtain a food handler permit (McKeever’s will assist)
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently
Physical Requirements:
- Stand for extended periods (4–8 hour shifts)
- Lift and carry up to 40 lbs
- Frequent bending, reaching, and use of hands for cutting, wrapping, and packaging
- Work in cold and damp conditions
