Duties
- Supervise inmate activities within the facility, ensuring compliance with rules and regulations
- Monitor security systems such as CCTV cameras to observe inmate behavior and detect potential issues
- Conduct regular inspections of inmate living quarters and common areas for safety and security purposes
- Respond promptly to emergencies or disturbances using conflict management skills and appropriate protocols
- Write detailed incident reports, shift logs, and other documentation accurately and thoroughly
- Assist in escorting inmates during transfers or court appearances while maintaining control and safety
- Provide first aid or CPR when necessary, following established emergency procedures
Qualification
- Certification in first aid and CPR is preferred; willingness to obtain if not already certified
- Strong conflict management skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure
- Ability to enforce rules firmly yet fairly while maintaining professional integrity
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with inmates, staff, and emergency responders
- Physical fitness to perform duties that may require standing for long periods or responding swiftly in emergencies
