STATUS: Fall Part-time, seasonal (varies 24-40 hours/ week)
LOCATION: Lost Valley Visitor Center (north of McHenry)
ANTICIPATED STARTING RATE: $16.75 per hour
WAGE RANGE: $16.75-$18.82 per hour

Share your knowledge and passion for the natural environment with diverse audiences, including children and adults. Apply today to join our team this fall and work alongside Education Coordinators to implement environmental education programs, including School Field Studies, School and Community Outreach, and Special Events at various Conservation Areas within the County! The Fall Education Seasonal role also has the unique opportunity to assist with our award-winning Special Event, the Great Outdoors Beer Trail.
SKILLS WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

Flexibility: You must be able to work a flexible schedule that, in addition to regular daytime hours, includes some evening and weekend shifts and the ability to travel and work between different sites.

Relevant Experience: At least six months of experience working with children and/or leading conservation-related programs.

Education/Training: Some post-high school education or specialized training in Environmental Education, Interpretation, or a related field.
Applicants are required to have a current and valid driver's license and to complete a pre-employment drug screening. You must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and be capable of hiking up to 3 miles while transporting educational supplies.

INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY: While we do not provide a formal internship program, if you need to obtain college credits through an internship, we are open to further discussing with you the criteria your college is looking for in a program to determine if the District has the time and resources to fulfill those needs.
WORK DATES & LOCATION: Start date is flexible, but ideal during the first half of September. Employees will be based out of the Lost Valley Visitor Center in Glacial Park, north of McHenry, however, your time will be split between both Lost Valley Visitor Center and Prairieview Education Center in Crystal Lake, IL, with occasional work at other conservation sites.
