Morris County Hospital (MCH) is seeking an Advance Practice Provider (PA-C or APRN) to continue MCH’s efforts in providing high quality, primary care to its Chase County patients. Since the mid-1990’s, MCH has had key role in supporting the Chase County clinic and providing medical services in the community. MCH is looking for an Advanced Practice Provider to continue this legacy MCH - Chase County clinic.
MCH’s Chase County clinic is located in Cottonwood Falls, Kansas; the historic county seat of Chase County. In the “Heart of the Flint Hills” Cottonwood falls and the Chase County community offer a mix of small-town charm, history, and outdoor recreation with breathtaking views.
Job Description (Duties & Functions):
A Rural Health Clinic Advanced Practice Provider job involves providing comprehensive primary care - diagnosing/treating conditions, managing chronic diseases, prescribing medications, performing office procedures. In collaboration with RHC supervising physician – the Advance Practice Provider will perform a broad range of medical services, including, but not limited to the following:
- Direct Patient Care: Conduct comprehensive histories, physical exams, diagnose, and treat acute/chronic illnesses for all ages.
- Diagnostic & Treatment Planning: Order, interpret labs/imaging; develop/implement individualized plans; prescribe medications/therapies.
- Procedures: Perform standard clinical procedures like joint injections, suturing of lacerations, biopsies, removal of superficial foreign bodies, wound care.
- Patient Education: Counsel on wellness, prevention, disease management.
- Collaboration & Referrals: Consult with supervising physicians, refer to specialists when needed, … manage inpatient admissions.
- Emergency Response: Assist or Initiate life-saving measures in emergencies (e.g., cardiac arrest, hemorrhage).
- Community Health: Focus on preventive care and addressing unique rural health needs.
Key aspects of this position include strong assessment skills, autonomy within scope, and community health focus. The Advance Practice Provider will expect to maintain accurate, timely documentation via MCH’s electronic health record system as directed in institution bylaws.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduate of an AMA-approved Physician Assistant or an accredited APRN Nurse Practitioner training program.
- Currently or eligible to be licensed by the Kansas State Board of Health Arts or Kansas State Board of Nursing.
- 3 years of experience in urgent care, emergency, or primary care, preferred.
- Passionate about patient-centered care and strong communication skills.
