The Washington, D.C. office of McGuireWoods seeks an associate or counsel to join its Band 1 Chambers-Ranked Federal Energy Regulatory (Electric) practice.
The McGuireWoods team practices primarily before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) representing a wide range of energy companies including investor-owned utilities, independent transmission and generation developers, energy traders, and large load customers. Our lawyers assist clients with regulatory compliance, rate-related filings, litigation before FERC, and counsel clients on energy regulatory aspects of transactions for the financing, development, acquisition and disposition of energy/utility assets, including development of data center and other large load projects.

Salary: $310,000 - $425,000

Job Requirements
Qualified candidates must have at least 4 years of experience with Federal electric regulation, ideally including:
- Two or more of the following areas: market based rates and related compliance, cost of service ratemaking, transmission and interconnection issues, FPA Section 203 and transaction-related filings, compliance and due diligence, and organized energy markets.
- Excellent academic credentials and demonstrated writing skills.
- A proven track record of demonstrating initiative and independent working skills within a group setting.
- Willingness and desire to work with innovative technology platforms. Our attorneys leverage Harvey AI to accelerate research, streamline document drafting, and enhance analytical work, allowing associates to focus on higher-value strategic thinking and client engagement
- DC bar membership, or the ability to waive into the DC bar.
