What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sales Development Representative position at McGuire?
Sales Development Representative (SDR)
Location: On-site in Central Eastside, Portland, OR (5 days a week)
Compensation: $60,000 base salary commission annual profit-sharing (eligible after year 1) Employer Paid Medical Benefits
About McGuire:
We are a 72-year-old, family-owned leader in the distribution of power transmission components. We value humility, a hunger to learn, and customer-first service. We’re looking for a future leader to own their book of business and grow with us.
Who you are:
● Growth-Oriented: You view this role as an entry point into a long-term sales career in a stable industry or a way to hone and sharpen your existing Sales skills, not just as a “hot and in demand” job title.
○ Bonus: Experience in power transmission, technology, or incentive-based sales.
● Coachable: You have an "ego-free" mindset and value feedback.
● Resilient: You have the grit to handle unresponsive contacts and the discipline to maintain high activity levels.
● Tech-Savvy: You are proficient with Google Suite and CRM tools (HubSpot, ZoomInfo, Asana) or willing to learn.
What you’ll do:
As a Sales Development Representative (SDR), you are the first point of contact for new business. You will turn inbound interest, warm leads, existing accounts, and cold outreach into qualified opportunities for our Sales team. You will master the art of the "sticky relationship," balancing the grit required for outbound prospecting with the consultative approach needed to solve customer problems. The best part is you’re not responsible for selling anything! You are simply scoping the lay of the land and then handing it over to our Outside Sales Reps to win the Deal.
Responsibilities:
● Generate Opportunity: Conduct cold outreach (calls, emails, social) and nurture warm leads to raise awareness.
● Qualify & Advise: Vet client needs, suggest appropriate engineering/component solutions, and perform a full "needs analysis" discovery.
● Collaborate: Partner with Corporate Branch Managers and Outside Sales Reps to hand off qualified leads and drive revenue.
● Continuous Improvement: Maintain meticulous records in HubSpot, stay up to date on product knowledge, and attend industry events.
