What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dog Daycare Attendant position at McGrupps Doggy Daycare?
Love dogs? Want a job with a purpose? Join the McGrupps' Team!
Are you looking for more than just a paycheck? At McGrupps, we don’t just watch dogs—we provide a safe, high-energy, and enriching environment where pets thrive while their families are away. We are looking for dedicated, responsible individuals who want to start a career in animal care and make a real difference in the lives of our furry guests.
Why You’ll Love Working Here:
- Skill Building: We’ll teach you the "Science of Dog Care"—from reading body language and behavior management to basic grooming and health monitoring.
- Growth-Focused: No experience? No problem. We provide hands-on training for anyone with a positive attitude and a drive to learn.
- Meaningful Work: You’ll be the "guardian" for our pups, ensuring they stay safe, clean, and happy.
- Flexibility: Perfect for college students or those looking for a consistent, year-round schedule.
The Reality of the Role:
This isn't just "playing with puppies" (though there’s plenty of that!). It is a rewarding but physically demanding job. You will be:
- The Safety Lead: Actively monitoring dog play to prevent scuffles and ensure high safety standards.
- The Cleanliness Pro: We pride ourselves on a spotless facility. Cleaning and upkeep are a part of every shift.
- The Problem Solver: Working under pressure and multitasking to keep the day running smoothly.
- A Professional: Showing up on time, every time. Our dogs and your teammates rely on your presence.
Dynamic Scheduling Notice:
Similar to a retail environment, our staffing needs fluctuate based on the "flow" of the day and how many guests we have in the building. This means:
- Hours may be shortened if the flow of the day is inconsistent day to day.
- You may be asked to stay extra (with pay and not required) if the day is busier than expected.
- We aim for fairness, but hours are ultimately decided based on the needs of our guests and the practice.
Who You Are:
- A "Dog Person": You have a genuine passion for animal welfare.
- Reliable & Ethical: You have a high work ethic and take pride in doing a job right the first time.
- Present & Engaged: You can stay focused in a busy environment and thrive when working both independently and with a team.
- Punctual: You understand that "on-time" is the only time in a facility that runs on a tight schedule.
The Details:
- Schedule: Year-Round, 25–40 hours/week.
- Availability: Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including rotating weekends.
- Requirements: Must be 18 , have reliable transportation, have a high school diploma (or equivalent), and must be willing to learn our facility rules and techniques.
Perks & Benefits:
- Accident, Life, Short Term Disability, and 401(k) options
- Employee Discount (Bring your dog to work!)
- Paid On-the-Job Training
