Summary:
SPEAR Specialty’s Excess Casualty is seeking a motivated candidate to work in growing a diverse suite of Excess Casualty Products. They will be responsible for supporting and managing workflows between Underwriting and Operations. The successful candidate will handle the life cycle of an account, including new business, renewals, and servicing of business.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Handle extensive volumes of data using spreadsheets, graphs, data tables, calculations, and automation to generate desired outcomes.
· Create and/or work with spreadsheet formulas, which will allow for tackling sophisticated problems and achieving advanced data manipulation with confidence.
· Support all steps of the underwriting process in conjunction with the underwriting operations function.
· Liaise with Underwriters, Brokers, and Reinsurers as needed to communicate account status and complete outstanding subjectivities.
· Liaise with Underwriters to confirm policy issuance instructions for policies, endorsements, forms, notices, certificates, etc., and effectively complete coding/issuance.
· Assist with new and renewal business life cycle work such as submission preparation, rating, referral prep, quoting, and binding all the way through to policy issuance and endorsements within assigned authority.
· Work with internal operations partners to ensure that service standards are being met.
· Ensuring all parts of the Underwriting workflow are completed both accurately and on time.
· Assist underwriters in processing new business submissions and rating sheets.
· Assists with onboarding of new hires and/or acts as a mentor for colleagues.
· Other duties, tasks, and projects as assigned.
Education and Experience:
· Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Actuarial or Data Science, Statistics, or related field (preferred).
· Experience in the insurance industry (preferred).
· Highly proficient – i.e. Intermediate high or close to Advanced level – in Microsoft Office suite.
· Advanced Excel knowledge and skills.

· Demonstrated experience working with extensive volumes of data.

Job Type: Full-time, 40 hours a week.
Schedule: 8:15am – 5:00pm, Monday – Friday.
