Job Description


The Director of Project Management is responsible for leading the Project Management function across the Electrical Equipment Center of Excellence (EECOE), ensuring consistent, predictable execution of customer projects across multiple manufacturing facilities and partner networks.

This role is accountable for maturing and leading a centralized project management operating model that strengthens execution predictability, aligns cross-functional teams, standardizes delivery practices, and improves customer outcomes across the EECOE.

The Director will oversee project portfolio performance, develop and lead a team of Program Managers and Project Managers, and partner closely with Sales, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing to enable proactive planning, risk management, and coordinated execution.

This position requires a high level of operational leadership, cross-functional influence, and the ability to drive structure and accountability in a complex, fast-paced environment. The Director will play a key role in scaling EECOE delivery capability, improving operational coordination, and building the structure required to support continued organizational growth.

Team Leadership & Organizational Development

Lead the Project Management organization across EECOE, including Program Managers, Project Managers, and Coordinators

Establish and enforce a centralized project management operating model across all facilities and programs

Develop team capability, performance expectations, and accountability standards

Establish clear role expectations, leadership standards, and development pathways across Project Coordinators, Project Managers, Program Managers, and PM leadership roles

Coach and develop emerging leaders, strengthening proactive ownership, decision-making, communication, and cross-functional collaboration

Create an environment that empowers team members to lead, contribute ideas, and drive continuous improvement regardless of title

Lead through organizational change and ambiguity while maintaining focus on execution, accountability, and customer commitments


Customer Experience & Delivery Commitment

Own the end-to-end customer experience across the project lifecycle, ensuring alignment between internal execution and external expectations

Establish and enforce standards for proactive, consistent customer communication across all projects

Ensure customer-facing commitments are operationally aligned, clearly communicated, and consistently achieved

Drive alignment between Sales, Project Management, and Operations to eliminate disconnects between what is sold and what is delivered

Ensure early identification and communication of risks, changes, and impacts to customers- No surprises

Partner with cross-functional teams to resolve customer-impacting issues quickly and effectively

Monitor customer experience trends and feedback, identifying patterns and driving improvements to execution and communication practices

Ensure customer perception aligns with actual project status, eliminating gaps between internal reporting and external communication

Ensure alignment between committed delivery timelines, execution readiness, and operational capacity, driving decisions when commitments are at risk

Reinforce accountability and transparency for proactive communication, escalation management, and customer trust throughout the project lifecycle


Portfolio & Delivery Performance

Own overall project portfolio performance, including on-time delivery (OTD), quality, and customer experience

Ensure alignment between customer commitments and operational execution

Identify and address systemic issues impacting delivery performance

Establish clear escalation paths and ensure timely resolution of risks and issues

Drive operational predictability through proactive management of execution risk, resource alignment, and delivery performance

Support visibility into portfolio health, execution trends, and delivery performance metrics across the EECOE

Make informed decisions in complex situations involving customer commitments, resource constraints, execution risk, and operational priorities

Challenge assumptions, surface concerns early, and drive accountability when delivery commitments are at risk


Operational Excellence & Process Standardization

Define and implement standardized project management processes across EECOE

Lead the adoption of project management tools and process improvement efforts, in partnership with the EECOE Business Operations team

Establish consistent approaches to risk management, issue tracking, and project visibility

Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance execution efficiency and predictability


Cross-functional Alignment

Partner with Sales to ensure accurate translation of customer expectations into execution plans

Collaborate with Engineering, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing to ensure readiness at each phase of project execution

Align project management practices with capacity planning, project placement, and operational constraints

Ensure clear and consistent communication across all stakeholders

Drive alignment between Sales, Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Project Management to improve execution consistency and customer outcomes

Partner across functions to improve visibility, remove bottlenecks, and strengthen operational coordination throughout the project lifecycle

Qualifications


Required Knowledge/Experience

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required

12–15 years of experience in Project Management, Program Management, or Operations leadership

7 years of people leadership experience, including leading managers and cross-functional teams

Demonstrated experience leading project management functions in complex, engineered-to-order or manufacturing environments

Proven track record of building, standardizing, and scaling project management processes and systems

Strong understanding of project portfolio management, capacity constraints, and cross-functional execution

Experience implementing or scaling project management platforms (Wrike or similar strongly preferred)

Experience in electrical equipment, power systems, or similar industries preferred


Work Environment & Travel

Hybrid role with flexibility across EECOE locations

Up to 30% travel to manufacturing facilities and customer sites

Frequent engagement with cross-functional teams, including time on the production floor

Ability to safely navigate plant environments in compliance with OSHA standards
