Role Description
This is a part-time, in-person, independent contractor role for a Legal Secretary, based in Carpinteria starting April 1st. The Legal Secretary will be responsible for preparing legal documents, supporting attorneys with administrative duties, and performing clerical tasks. The position will require training two days per week through July 13th, with the potential for three, 4-hour shifts per week (or more) through October 1st. References are requested. Position is hourly, with no benefits, and negotiable wages.
Qualifications
- Experience with civil litigation in California (5 years preferred)
- Strong clerical skills, including typing, proofreading, and organizing
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and legal software
- Background in legal assistance and managing legal processes effectively
- Experience with legal document preparation and electronic filing in California State Superior Court
- Willingness to expand scope of employment into administrative tasks such as invoicing
