Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-driven Electrical Estimator to join our growing team. This is an ideal position for someone with a strong foundation in the electrical trade, preferably holding a Journeyman License, and with 2–3 years of experience in electrical estimating.
You will work closely with Project Managers and our Chief Estimator to develop accurate and competitive electrical bid estimates using Conest Intellibid, our primary estimating software. This is a full-time, in-office role based in Tamarac, FL, with the potential for growth into a Senior Estimator position. You will be involved in diverse projects, from commercial build-outs to healthcare, government, and specialty construction work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform material and labor takeoffs from construction drawings and specifications.
- Prepare accurate electrical cost estimates, budgets, conceptual estimates, and detailed bids for commercial projects.
- Utilize estimating tools such as Conest Intellibid, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) with internal templates.
- Analyze, request, and review vendor and subcontractor quotes (e.g., lighting, switchgear, low-voltage systems).
- Coordinate with the Chief Estimator, Project Managers, and Superintendents to validate pricing, scope, and ensure constructability with scope alignment.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and occasional site visits as needed.
- Assist in preparing scope letters, clarifications, proposal preparation, and bid submissions.
- Maintain and update internal cost databases.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Journeyman Electrician License (preferred, not required).
- AutoCAD familiarity is a plus.
- Strong understanding of National Electrical Code and electrical systems in commercial environments.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical, architectural, structural, and mechanical drawings.
- Excellent time management and communication skills.
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (preferred, but not required)
- Experience with commercial, healthcare, and government project estimating.
Qualifications (Required):
- 2–3 years of experience in electrical estimating.
- Prior electrical field experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Bluebeam.
- Familiarity with Conest Intellibid or similar estimating and takeoff tools.
- Strong understanding of NEC and general construction principles.
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work in-person, Monday through Friday.
