Lead Carpenter

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced, dependable Lead Carpenter to join our team. This position is ideal for a well-rounded carpenter who takes pride in quality workmanship, has strong finish carpentry skills, and understands the full construction process from start to finish.

The majority of hands-on work will involve finish carpentry, trim, doors, cabinetry, and detail-oriented interior work. However, the ideal candidate must also understand all major aspects of residential and commercial construction, including framing, drywall, siding, flooring, and the coordination of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing trades.

We need someone who can work independently, recognize potential problems, organize daily tasks, coordinate with other trades, and help keep projects on schedule and within budget. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who can perform quality work while taking responsibility for the overall progress and professionalism of the jobsite.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality finish carpentry, including interior trim, doors, window and door casing, baseboard, cabinetry, hardware, and other detailed installations.
• Complete remodeling, renovation, and new construction work in residential and commercial settings.
• Understand the sequence and coordination of all major construction phases, from layout and framing through finishes and final punch lists.
• Read and interpret construction plans, details, specifications, and dimensions.
• Identify construction issues, potential conflicts, and quality concerns before they become costly problems.
• Organize daily work, plan ahead, and identify upcoming labor, material, and equipment needs.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and other trades to keep projects moving efficiently.
• Direct and assist other carpenters and helpers as needed.
• Maintain high standards for workmanship, cleanliness, jobsite safety, and customer service.
• Monitor progress, minimize material waste, and help control labor costs.
• Communicate project updates, questions, delays, and change-order needs to the owner.
• Complete punch lists and ensure work is ready for inspection and customer turnover.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in residential and/or commercial construction.
• Strong finish carpentry skills and attention to detail.
• Broad knowledge of construction methods, materials, and sequencing across multiple trades.
• Ability to read blueprints and understand construction drawings.
• Ability to work independently, solve problems, and make sound decisions on the jobsite.
• Experience leading crews, coordinating subcontractors, or taking responsibility for a project is strongly preferred.
• Reliable, organized, professional, and committed to producing quality work.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to lift construction materials, use common tools safely, and perform physical construction work.
