SUMMARY
Drives trucks (26,000 GVW) to transport loose materials such as sand, aggregate, asphalt, concrete, and cement and excavation spoils such as broken pavements, dirt, wood, and miscellaneous debris. Transports equipment such as rollers, loaders, pavers, and various construction equipment to job sites using equipment trailers. Helps at job site as a laborer when not performing truck driver duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Other duties may be assigned.
- Basic Mechanical Knowledge: Understand the mechanical operations of dump trucks, large trucks, Cement mixers, and equipment trailers.
- Daily Equipment Inspection: Conduct daily inspections of truck equipment, including tires, lights, brakes, fuel, oil, water, and wipers, especially in wet weather conditions. Adjust brakes weekly and perform fuel and equipment checks on any transported machinery. Report any mechanical defects or safety hazards promptly to the Field Supervisor or Mechanic Supervisor.
- Loading and Transportation Expertise: Knowledge of the procedures and requirements for safely loading, transporting construction materials, and dumping debris. Operate and drive dump trucks efficiently to and from job sites.
- Equipment Handling: Safely load and unload equipment, ensuring it is securely fastened to trailers. Drive dump trucks with trailers to and from job sites with caution.
- Laborer Duties: Perform laborer tasks as directed by the Field Supervisor. This may include sweeping, shoveling, raking, or operating small machinery such as a vibratory plate, compactor, air compressor, breaker, or other small equipment.
- Communication: Maintain clear communication with the Field Supervisor via mobile radio to report problems, delays, or relay important information to supervisors or co-workers.
- Daily Log Management: Complete and submit the daily truck log accurately.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Generally, this is a subordinate position directed by a Field Supervisor, but employees may be asked to manage 1 to 2 co-workers of other or like trades. The employee is then responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and performance of the crew. The employee then carries out responsibilities in accordance with MCE Corporation policies and applicable laws.
