Janitorial Maintenance Worker – Parks Division

SUMMARY

Perform janitorial and maintenance duties to ensure the cleanliness, safety, and upkeep of City of Dublin park restrooms and surrounding park facilities, including picnic areas, playgrounds, walkways, and public gathering spaces.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. • Clean and disinfect City park restrooms, including toilets, urinals, sinks, partitions, walls, and floor
• Restock restroom supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
• Empty trash receptacles and remove litter from restrooms and surrounding park areas.
• Pressure wash restroom exteriors, sidewalks, and related park structures as needed.
• Perform light maintenance, including replacing fixtures, bulbs, dispensers, and signage.
• Report damage, graffiti, or vandalism to a supervisor and assist with cleanup or repair.
• Pick up litter and debris throughout park grounds, parking lots, and public right-of-way areas.
• Clean and sanitize picnic tables, benches, and drinking fountains.
• Maintain drainage areas, ensuring restrooms and walkways remain clean, dry, and safe.
• Operate and maintain janitorial and maintenance equipment such as mops, blowers, and pressure washers.
• Complete simple daily activity reports and communicate facility issues promptly.
• Support City of Dublin special events, holiday operations, and emergency response as needed.
• Work weekends, overtime, and on-call shifts when required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
• Up to one year of related janitorial, custodial, or park maintenance experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must possess a valid California Driver’s License and maintain a driving record acceptable to MCE Corporation’s insurance carrier. Must be able to acquire and maintain any additional certificates, licenses, or registrations as required by the City of Dublin.

The City of Dublin requires a Live Scan background check as part of employment clearance. This fingerprint-based process, handled through the California Department of Justice, verifies an applicant’s criminal history to ensure eligibility for work with the city.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear. The employee frequently climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally more than 100 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, as well as depth perception and focus adjustment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The employee may encounter moving mechanical parts, cleaning chemicals, fumes, and traffic.
