Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook meals according to standardized recipes, ensuring consistency and quality in every dish.
- Operate various kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including grills, braising pans, poaching tools, and food production appliances.
- Assist in menu planning and meal preparation to meet dietary needs and preferences of residents or guests.
- Maintain strict adherence to food safety standards, including sanitizing procedures and proper food handling techniques.
- Support dietary department operations by assisting with food production for special diets or catering events.
- Ensure all food items are prepared in high-volume production environments while maintaining quality control.
- Follow food safety management practices to prevent contamination and ensure a clean kitchen environment.
- Collaborate with team members to uphold a positive work environment focused on excellence in food service.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a dietary aide or in a similar food service role is preferred.
- Demonstrated skills in menu planning, food preparation, and culinary techniques such as braising, grilling, and poaching.
- Knowledge of food safety sanitizing procedures and proper kitchen hygiene practices.
- Experience operating commercial kitchen equipment safely and effectively.
- Strong knife skills and proficiency in various cooking methods required for high-volume production.
- Background in restaurant or catering environments with exposure to the food industry’s best practices.
- Familiarity with dietary department operations, including meal prep for special diets or nutritional requirements.
