We are seeking an Electrical Controls Design Engineer to join our team in Eau Claire. This is a hands-on engineering position that works closely with manufacturing, assembly, and field service to design, develop, test, and troubleshoot electrical control systems for custom sawmill equipment. If you enjoy solving complex engineering challenges and seeing your designs come to life on the shop floor, we'd like to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop electrical control systems for sawmill machinery and heavy equipment
- Create and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts Program and configure PLCs, HMIs, and other control components
- Collaborate closely with mechanical engineers, shop technicians, and production teams
- Support equipment assembly, commissioning, and testing on the shop floor
- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and control system issues during build and startup
- Ensure designs meet safety standards, codes, and company quality requirements
- Provide technical support and documentation for internal teams and customers
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field
- Experience with PLC programming
- Strong understanding of industrial control systems and electrical design principles
- Experience working in a manufacturing or heavy equipment environment is preferred
- Ability to read and develop electrical schematics and technical drawings
- Hands-on mindset with a willingness to work in a shop environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Experience
- Experience with sawmill equipment or wood processing machinery
- Familiarity with motor controls, and industrial automation systems
- Experience with AutoCAD Electrical or similar design tools
