SUMMARY
This position is responsible for completing first article inspections on new products, transfer parts, existing parts with material or process changes. The Quality Layout Technician is also responsible for assisting with creating quality processes and procedures as well as programs for the CMM.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Create bubbled prints and FAIR Forms
- Determine Inspection Methods to be used to measure parts
- Create Vertex Programs if needed
- Perform First Article Inspections \ Annual Layouts
- Construct / obtain gages and fixtures
- Perform process capability studies
- Perform gage R & R studies
- Help aid in the creation of FMEA, control plan, and flow charts
- Create limit / workmanship standards
- Employee training of inspection methods
- Create work instructions for difficult measurements
- Recommend needed inspection guide changes
- Review current inspection methods and process capabilities
- Be available for gage calibration back-up
- Perform annual layouts and gage R & R studies if required
- Maintain SPC software / data

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or general education degree (GED); and six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of blueprint reading and prior CMM layout experience a plus.
