The Principal Project Accountant will be responsible for performing general accounting activities as needed including cash management tracking, preparing journal entries, running reports, account reconciliations and related activities for a project.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Weekly tracking of project cash including AR, AP and draft invoices
- Preparation of information needed to support internal and client cash management reporting
- Run daily/weekly system reports and summarize/review for issues related to project
- Preparation of journal entries, as required
- Perform bank account reconciliation throughout week and at month-end
- Monthly & special projects to analyze costs and accruals, as needed
- Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures, including US GAAP and Internal Controls (SOX)
Essential Qualifications and Education:
- Four-year accounting degree (Finance Degree with minor in accounting experience is also acceptable)
- Ability to work in fast-paced and dynamic environment and deliver accurate results.
- Must effectively interface with clients, business associates and peers.
- 5-10 years relevant accounting experience in a large company environment with some of the experience on E&C projects
- Experience with customer billing in the Energy & Construction industry
- Knowledge of ERP accounting software (JD Edwards or Oracle Cloud software a plus)
- Strong Excel skills required
- Good verbal and written communication skills required
