SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
Under general supervision of the Principal, the coach/advisor is responsible for advising students of Humboldt County School District in a specified athletic or non-athletic Extra Duty Activity, requiring a high standard of sound and acceptable coaching/advising practices. The advisor adheres to a highly efficient and technically sound program of injury prevention and safety precautions and performs related work as required.
EXEMPLARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
The coach/advisor is responsible for a variety of tasks related to leadership, student welfare, finance, and administration:
Leadership and Student Welfare
- Develops rapport with students and provides sound leadership.
- Is responsible for being an example of good sportsmanship.
- Applies discipline in a fair and positive manner and according to prescribed procedures.
- Is responsible for the general health and welfare of students and for the actions and conduct of students.
- Work with student body to improve student outcomes.
Communication and Public Relations
- Maintains cooperation with Principal and other Extra Duty personnel.
- Maintains good communications with the Principal by keeping them informed regarding the overall program, including trips, games, etc..
- Develops good public relations in the school and community.
Administrative and Financial Management
- Hold scheduled meetings.
- Create monthly agendas, meeting minutes, and sign-in sheets.
- Complete fundraising request forms.
- Follow accounting and purchasing procedures with bookkeeper.
- Raise funds for class in coordination with administration and other clubs.
- Supervise community service projects and fundraisers for the school.
Facilities and Operations
- Maintain and clean concessions areas and equipment.
- Follow health inspector guidelines.
General
- Performs other duties as assigned.
