Veterinary Assistant

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our veterinary team. The ideal candidate will support veterinarians and veterinary technicians in providing high-quality animal care, ensuring smooth clinic operations, and enhancing pet and client experiences. This role offers an opportunity to learn with a diverse range of animals, including dogs, cats, and equines, in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Duties

• Assist with animal restraint during examinations, treatments, and procedures to ensure safety for both animals and staff
• Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by veterinarians or veterinary technicians
• Perform animal husbandry tasks including feeding, bathing, shaving, and maintaining clean living areas.
• Maintain accurate medical records and documentation of treatments administered
• Assist with communication responsibilities including client communication and appointment scheduling
• Handle pet care duties such as dog handling, and providing comfort to animals
• Support surgical preparation
• Contribute to maintaining a clean, organized clinic environment adhering to infection control protocols
• Participate in emergency critical care situations when needed

Skills

• No experience needed
• Be able to lift 50lb or more
• Experience with kennel management and animal restraint techniques
• Ability to administer medications accurately and perform aseptic techniques during procedures such as animal catheterization
• Excellent communication skills for front desk duties and client interactions
• Ability to work efficiently in a team environment while managing multiple responsibilities effectively
