The Housing Specialist is responsible for a broad range of administrative support functions contributing to the overall effectiveness of the Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCVP) Department as assigned ensuring efficient processing of annual recertifications and the performance of file audits.
This position is a temporary, in-person in Dover, DE. Depending on the needs of our client, there may be the opportunity for remote work in the future.

Responsibilities
- Provide outstanding customer service by responding to in-person inquiries, phone calls, emails, and written correspondence in a timely, efficient, and appropriate manner.
- Assist clients in completing necessary paperwork as needed.
- Review annual recertification submissions, perform verification of income and assets, and issue requests for outstanding documentation. Perform rent calculations and issue rent change notices.
- Handle confidential matters with discretion and abide by all federal privacy regulations.
- Review files for completeness and accuracy of included documentation.
- Perform other duties as directed.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds.
- Ability to operate commonly used office equipment, especially the use of personal computers for word processing and spreadsheet applications, scanners, copiers, and fax machines.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to work independently and in group settings and use sound judgment in decision-making and problem solving.
- Ability to perform moderately complex computations correctly.
- Prior knowledge of HCVP, LIPH, and other public housing programs is preferred.
Minimum Education, Training, and/or Experience
- High school diploma or GED is required; graduation from an accredited college or university is preferred.
- 1-3 years of experience in administrative support, especially in the context of public housing, is preferred.
- Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities may be considered sufficient.

Pay: From $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
