Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Shipping Supervisor to oversee daily shipping and receiving operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive experience in warehouse management, and proficiency with logistics systems. This role is vital in ensuring efficient inventory control, process improvement, and adherence to safety standards. The Shipping Supervisor will coordinate team activities, manage warehouse distribution processes, and optimize shipping procedures to meet organizational goals.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily shipping and receiving activities to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.
- Oversee inventory management processes, including inventory control, stock replenishment, and cycle counting.
- Utilize Warehouse Management System AS400 platforms for tracking shipments, inventory updates, and reporting.
- Manage warehouse distribution operations, ensuring compliance with safety regulations such as OSHA standards.
- Lead and manage a team of warehouse associates, providing training, performance feedback, and process guidance.
- Implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency, reduce errors, and streamline materials handling.
- Operate forklifts and other mechanical equipment safely for materials handling and heavy lifting tasks.
- Coordinate shipping & receiving activities with third-party logistics providers (3PL) and e-commerce platforms.
- Maintain accurate documentation for shipments using logistics best practices.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and promote a safe working environment for all staff.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in warehouse management or supervision within a logistics or distribution environment.
- Strong knowledge of inventory management, warehouse distribution, shipping & receiving procedures, and materials handling.
- Proficiency with Warehouse Management Systems, AS400, and other logistics software such as OSHAs standards.
- Mechanical knowledge related to warehouse equipment operation, including forklifts.
- Excellent team management skills with the ability to lead, motivate, and develop staff effectively.
- Experience with process improvement initiatives to optimize warehouse operations.
- Familiarity with e-commerce fulfillment processes is preferred.
- Ability to lift heavy loads safely and perform physically demanding tasks as needed.
