Overview
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team, responsible for maintaining and repairing a wide range of heavy-duty equipment, including diesel engines, machinery, industrial equipment, and vehicle fleets. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, experience with automotive diagnostics, and proficiency with various hand and power tools. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where expertise in heavy equipment operation and maintenance is essential for ensuring operational efficiency and safety. You will need your own tools.
Duties
- Perform diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, air brakes, and HVAC systems
- Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire services, brake repairs, shocks & struts, wheel alignments, and general vehicle servicing.
- Fabricate and modify parts using welding, soldering, and other fabrication techniques to meet specific repair needs.
- Operate heavy equipment including , cranes, forklifts, and trailer trucks safely and efficiently.
- Read and interpret schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues.
- Repair and maintain machinery and industrial equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Assist in assembly and disassembly of mechanical components during repairs or upgrades.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment to perform precise repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards such as proper handling of hydraulics and air brake systems.
- Maintain detailed records of repairs performed and parts used for each vehicle or piece of equipment.
Skills
- Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic with dealership or heavy equipment repair background preferred.
- Strong knowledge of automotive diagnostics, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems, and HVAC systems.
- Hands-on experience with fabrication techniques including welding and soldering.
- Ability to operate heavy machinery such as , cranes, forklifts, tractors-trailers, and other industrial equipment safely.
- Familiarity with schematics for troubleshooting complex mechanical issues.
- Mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of vehicle maintenance procedures including brake repair, wheel alignment, shocks & struts replacement.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, diagnostic scanners, and service equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail in diagnosing issues accurately.
- Physical ability for heavy lifting and working in various environmental conditions.
