Part-Time MA State Vehicle Inspector / Light Mechanical
Looking for a flexible part-time automotive position?
McCracken Automotive of West Roxbury is looking for an additional Massachusetts State Vehicle Inspector to help cover our inspection schedule.
This is primarily a part-time position, and we are flexible with the schedule for the right person.
Flexible Hours
We are looking for approximately 20–30 hours per week, with opportunities for additional hours if desired.
Our biggest needs are:
- Weekday mornings
- Saturday 8 AM–2 PM
- Flexible combinations of 2–5 days per week
A schedule such as weekday mornings plus Saturday could work very well, but we are open to discussing different arrangements.
This could be a great fit for someone who:
- Doesn't want a full 40-hour workweek
- Is semi-retired
- Has family or other commitments
- Wants a steady second job
- Wants to continue working in the automotive field without full-time technician hours
Responsibilities - Primary
- Perform Massachusetts State Inspections on cars and light trucks
- Replace bulbs, wiper blades, and other minor safety items
Responsibilities - Secondary
- Perform Massachusetts State Inspections on cars and light trucks
- Replace bulbs, wiper blades, and other minor safety items
When inspections are slow, there is plenty of opportunity to help with light mechanical work around the shop.
Qualifications
- Valid Massachusetts State Inspector License required
- Valid driver's license
- Automotive experience preferred
- Reliable and comfortable working independently
- Basic mechanical skills
We are willing to help train and develop the right person on the mechanical side of the job.
