Job Summary
McCourt Equipment is seeking an experienced, dependable Lead Fleet Mechanic to maintain and repair our company fleet, including service trucks, pickups, forklifts, and other company equipment.
This is a hands-on mechanic position responsible for diagnosing problems, completing repairs, performing preventative maintenance, and keeping our fleet safe and operational. The Lead Fleet Mechanic will also help coordinate repair priorities, order necessary parts, and maintain service records.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical issues on company trucks, forklifts, and other fleet equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled services, including oil and filter changes, fluid services, brakes, tires, batteries, belts, and other routine maintenance
- Diagnose and repair brake, steering, suspension, electrical, cooling, drivetrain, and other mechanical systems
- Inspect vehicles and equipment to identify needed repairs and potential safety concerns
- Perform welding and fabrication as needed for fleet repairs
- Complete repairs safely and efficiently to minimize equipment downtime
- Create and manage work orders for fleet maintenance and repairs
- Prioritize repairs based on safety, operational needs, and equipment availability
- Identify and order parts needed to complete repairs
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, inspections, and parts used
- Coordinate outside repairs with vendors when work cannot be completed in-house
- Communicate equipment status and anticipated completion times to appropriate team members
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop and work area
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong mechanical background with hands-on experience repairing trucks, automotive vehicles, heavy equipment, or similar equipment
- Ability to independently diagnose mechanical problems and determine appropriate repairs
- Experience with preventative maintenance, brakes, suspension, steering, electrical, and drivetrain systems
- Welding and fabrication experience preferred
- Experience using diagnostic equipment, power tools, and standard mechanic hand tools
- Diesel experience strongly preferred
- Experience working on medium- and heavy-duty trucks preferred
- Forklift or industrial equipment repair experience is a plus
- Ability to read service information, wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals
- Ability to manage multiple repairs and prioritize work based on operational needs
- Strong attention to safety and quality of work
- Dependable, organized, and able to work with limited supervision
- Valid driver's license required
- CDL is a plus

Experience
- Professional mechanic experience: 3 years preferred
- Diesel or heavy-duty truck repair experience preferred

Pay: $55,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
