Essential Functions
Analyze electronic time records to ensure accuracy and verify compliance with established internal controls and approval policies
Export hours from timekeeping system into payroll processing system
Process weekly payroll, ensuring the accurate recording of earnings to the appropriate jobs and/or departments
Ensure the proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, union dues and other deductions
Print and distribute payroll checks and/or email electronic paystubs
Create direct deposit files for timely submission to the bank
Enter, maintain, and/or process information in the payroll system; information may include employees' hourly rates, salaries, commissions, bonuses or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, address changes, and other information.
Process employee changes for new hires and terminations
Answer/research employee questions regarding their pay
Issue, or reissue, physical or replacement checks or direct deposits due to payroll errors
Record and process federal, state and local payroll tax deposits
Record and process other remittances, such as 401(k), HSA, union dues and garnishments
Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual payroll tax returns
Prepare weekly Certified Payroll reports for applicable jobs
Respond to payroll tax correspondence and other compliance inquiries
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required
Minimum 3 Years Experience In a Payroll Processing Position
Experience with union payroll preferred
Experience with Viewpoint Vista a plus.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Outlook
Proficient with technology and the ability to quickly learn new systems
