The Idaho Statesman seeks an aggressive, enterprising reporter to join its award-winning newsroom in Boise, one of the fastest-growing metro areas in America.
Our suburbs reporter will join our team of reporters focused on all the ways our community is changing. This position will include coverage responsibility for two or more of the communities to Boise’s west, an area experiencing explosive growth.

In this role, you will need to:

- Demonstrate speed, competitiveness and SEO savvy through aggregating and storytelling tools

- Live within 35 miles of Boise City Hall.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:
- College degree or equivalent work experience
- 1-3 years of reporting experience.
- Strong writing skills, excellent news judgment and a demonstrated ability to “see the story” that is going to matter to readers.
- Unwavering commitment to accurate, ethical journalism.
- Ability to build source networks and bring a constant flow of story ideas.
- Ability to work collaboratively to aggressively tackle stories.
- A track record for innovation, learning and using new skills and technologies, especially AI
- Comfort with a job that will be demanding, fast-paced and constantly evolving.
- Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance (at least minimum insurance required for the state)
