GENERAL PURPOSE

Under the administrative supervision of the Program Director or designee, this position is responsible for providing psychosocial, rehabilitation, and recovery-oriented services for adults.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

This is an at-will direct service position within a program. The position is responsible for

counseling and aiding clients and families requiring assistance in dealing with substance abuse problems, such as alcohol or drug abuse.  Functions as a Personal Service Coordinator for a case load of dually diagnosed clients.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – (ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY)

  • Assists clients in identifying and progressing toward their chosen goals.
  • Advocates for clients in all areas of treatment and helps them apply for and receive services.
  • Provides prompt intervention in the event of a crisis, both to stop the crisis and to notify, when indicated, persons and agencies necessary for the resolution of the situation. 
  • Interviews clients, reviews records, and confers with other professionals.
  • Formulates program for treatment and rehabilitation of client, including facilitation of support groups.
  • Counsels clients individually and in group sessions to assist clients in overcoming alcohol and drug dependency.
  • Counsels family members to assist the family in dealing with and providing client support.
  • Refers client to other support services as needed, such as medical evaluation and treatment, social services, and employment services.
  • Monitors the condition of the client to evaluate the success of therapy, and adapts treatment as needed.
  • Prepares and maintains reports and case histories.
  • Formulates and conducts programs to promote the prevention of alcohol and drug abuse.
  • Safely transports clients and other passengers to and from appointments and activities, and other program business relevant to the position using own personal vehicle.
  • Drives on agency business using personal vehicle; may be required to transport clients, equipment, protected health information (PHI), and/or confidential personnel or TPCP agency information.
  • Provides support and training for other staff members as needed.
  • Adheres to and upholds the policies and procedures of Turning Point Community Programs.
  • Attends staff meetings unless approval for non-attendance is secured from the Team Leader or Program Director.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES

Education, Training, and Experience:

A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities outlined above is through the possession of a CADAC license and varied experience working with dually diagnosed adults (substance abuse and psychiatric disability).

Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements:

  • Valid CADAC license
  • California driver’s license & current vehicle insurance/registration if driving; and,
  • Reliable means of transportation capable of passing vehicle safety inspection if more than five years old, excluding all modes of two-wheeled transport, inclusive of bicycles, mopeds, and motorcycles.

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM.
Compensation: $24.00 - $25.98 hourly.
