The Claims Director will report to the VP of Claims and will maintain a strong working relationship with various regional / project personnel, safety directors, quality assurance directors, general counsel office, insurance carriers (Owner, McCarthy, JV & Subcontractors), attorneys (defense, plaintiff & coverage), experts, third-party claim administrators, brokers and various personnel within the McCarthy risk management department.

Responsibilities
- Responsible for handling the day-to-day claims handling of liability (General Liability, Pollution Liability, Professional Liability) and Builders' Risk clams, working closely with all necessary internal / external parties in the resolution of claims.
- Responsible for investigating, evaluating, strategizing, negotiating and settling claims.
- Responsible for tendering to subcontractors and additional insured carriers in order to trigger the appropriate additional insured defense and indemnification obligations. Responsible for quarterly / annual claim reporting.
- Perform contract reviews as requested.
- Responsible for conducting coverage analysis based upon facts of case and insurance policies implicated in order to advise Sr. Management and respond appropriately to carrier coverage positions.
- Responsible for delivering Claims related training across Divisions / Operation Levels.
- Assist in management of Third Party Administrator claim staff and claim handling.
- 7-10 years of property & casualty claims experience (General Liability, Professional Liability, Pollution Liability, Builder's Risk and Property/Contractors Equipment), particularly with construction defect claims handling.
- Management / supervision experience a plus.
- General knowledge and understanding of Construction.
- Bachelors Degree required; CPCU, ARM, CRIS and other certifications a plus.
- Strong knowledgebase / experience working with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, various claim / risk management applications.
- Multi-state claims handling experience.
- Familiar with various state laws / regulations / case laws / statutes affecting Claims.
- Strong communication skills (written & verbal).
- Ability to travel as necessary to mediations, on-site investigations, etc. (25%)
