Junior Copywriter
Reporting into: Creative Director

Your Role
As a Junior Copywriter at McCann New York, you are a passionate storyteller and full of creativity. You are eager to learn and grow. You are enthusiastic about all things advertising and inspire those around you through your innovation and creativity. You partner with a Junior Art Director to bring ideas to life through beautiful storytelling. No matter the topic, format, or length, you love writing and have a healthy obsession with language and syntax. You focus on tactical briefs, bringing ideas to life in an executional way i.e. what is the headline for that travel card. Collaborating with creatives, you contribute to concepts that meet our client goals and captivate and delight audiences.
What You Do
Location:
McCann New York team members must reside in or be willing to relocate to the New York Tristate area unless otherwise agreed upon by their manager and McCann New York’s Human Resources team. McCann New York is a hybrid workplace with three days in-office per week.
Salary Range
The salary for this role is $65,000. Salary ranges depend on, among other factors, actual ranges for current/former employees in the subject position; the associated discipline market considerations; budgetary considerations; tenure and standing with the company (applicable to current employees); as well as the employee’s/applicant’s background, pertinent experience, and qualifications.

Junior Copywriter

What You Do
- Develop tactical ideas that are engaging and effective for a range of clients and categories.
- Craft high-quality writing across diverse platforms.
- Contribute to the conception and execution of content across all channels with guidance from Creative Directors
- Begin to actively hunt, concept and present proactive opportunities.
- Collaborate closely with Art Directors and Designers to create consistency between the tone and style of the copy and the visual elements that align with the brand’s voice and creative brief.
- Create copy that ensures the brand voice meets business objectives, connects to the audience demographics, and is effectively executed across all messaging.
- Proofread and assess the copy for tone, grammar, and messaging.
- Present ideas, layouts, and storyboards to the Creative Directors for approval.
- Consult with project management, account and strategy team members as needed.
- Extensive knowledge of grammar.
- Ability to write in various styles for multiple formats.
- Organized with ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects across departments, teams, and clients
- Knowledge of creative trends and best practices in advertising, culture, media, and social, then integrate these insights into your concepts.

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
