Lead Install Technician

McCann Systems is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented, motivated Lead Audiovisual Technician to join our nationwide team.

Position Summary

This is a full-time on-site role for a Lead Technician that is responsible for day-to-day tasks related to audiovisual system integration and installation. This includes system configuration, testing, troubleshooting, and client support. The Lead Technician works closely with project managers and collaborates with other technicians to ensure successful project implementation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

• Oversee the on-site installation and integration of complex AV systems in corporate, educational, or commercial environments
• Configure and deploy AV systems including displays, projectors, control systems (Crestron/Extron), audio DSPs, and conferencing solutions
• Conduct system testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning in coordination with the project manager
• Lead and direct field teams, subcontractors, and junior technicians during installation phases
• Interface professionally with clients and general contractors to provide technical support and updates
• Interpret and redline construction drawings, signal flow diagrams, and project schematics
• Ensure proper cable management, system labeling, rack building, and equipment mounting
• Maintain accurate documentation and daily progress reports for the project team

• Ability to lift, carry, and transport up to 50 lbs of equipment, tools, or materials regularly
• Ability to climb ladders, work on scaffolding or lifts, and perform tasks at heights (up to 20 feet or more as needed)
• Comfortable working in tight or confined spaces, including ceiling cavities, under raised floors, and behind walls
• Able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl for extended periods during installations
• Manual dexterity for fine motor tasks such as cable terminations, connector crimping, and rack assembly
• Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments, including active construction sites with noise, dust, and varying temperatures
• Willingness to wear PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, harness, gloves, etc.) as required by site safety protocols
• Ability to travel to job sites across regional or out-of-state locations when necessary, including occasional overnight stays

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

• Expertise in audiovisual system integration
• Experience with system configuration, testing, and troubleshooting
• Strong technical skills in setting up and operating audiovisual equipment
• Knowledge of audiovisual standards and best practices
• Ability to interpret and implement system designs and schematics
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Experience in the audiovisual or related industry is a plus
• Industry certifications such as CTS or CTS-D are a plus
