1.0 SUMMARY
1.1 The Production Supervisor II is responsible for overseeing daily production operations in the fill room, ensuring safety, quality, and food safety standards are met. This role leads, trains, and develops team members and line leaders while driving continuous improvement initiatives to optimize efficiency, reduce downtime, and maintain operational excellence. The supervisor also coordinates maintenance, staffing, and scheduling to meet production goals.
2.0 ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
2.1 Conduct weekly audits for safety, quality, food safety, and GMP
2.2 Lead 5-minute monthly talks on GMP, food safety, and quality with direct reports
2.3 Maintain daily safety logs and report incidents, violations, or hazards to management
2.4 Perform daily safety audits in assigned area and weekly audits in other plant areas
2.5 Ensure food safety practices are followed and maintained
2.6 Communicate job performance deficiencies to direct reports and management
2.7 Recognize and communicate exceptional employee performance for rewards
2.8 Collaborate with Area Supervisor to maintain, improve, and document production standards and goals
2.9 Review and understand production run rates; communicate to hourly team members
2.10 Maintain daily downtime records and meet/exceed operational downtime and efficiency goals
2.11 Assist Production Manager or designee in implementing the weekly production schedule
2.12 Plan upcoming production runs to ensure on-time start-ups and line readiness by 7:00 AM
2.13 Develop, mentor, and manage line leaders for each designated area
2.14 Maintain open communication with line leaders regarding production scheduling and staffing adjustments
2.15 Train team members on assigned tasks developed by fill room supervisors and managers
2.16 Ensure training covers: plant safety, job-specific tasks, GMP, and food safety/GFSI
2.17 Plan and communicate maintenance work with Area Leader, Maintenance personnel and direct report
2.18 Perform assigned daily maintenance tasks in coordination with Area Leader
2.19 Ensure all equipment is set up and product is online prior to shift start
2.20 Verify staffing meets production standards and employees are in assigned positions
2.21 Assign tasks to extra staff and communicate the need for additional staffing when necessary
2.22 Develop and implement process improvements to reduce waste, optimize staffing, lower utility usage, and improve efficiency
2.23 Identify and execute continuous improvement projects, including maintenance PM systems and other operational enhancements
2.24 Perform other duties as assigned to support production and operational goals
3.0 SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
3.1 Supervise and oversee all team members for the entire shift.
4.0 LANGUAGE SKILLS
4.1 Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
4.2 Ability to complete reports and forms associated with the position.
4.3 Ability to communicate effectively orally, and in writing.
5.0 MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
5.1 Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
6.0 REASONING ABILITY
6.1 Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusion.
6.2 Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
6.3 Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
6.4 Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
